This gate is on the path around the Imperial Palace grounds in Tokyo. The palace moat is between the tree and the wall in the painting. The morning sun lighting up the springtime cherry blossoms was the prime subject for painting.

I am a self taught artist and have worked in oil, acrylic, India ink, charcoal, and watercolor in a wide range of styles and subject matter including landscapes, seascapes, still life, and portraits. I think that watercolor is the most challenging and interesting.
