This scenic bay-side hotel is next to the SF ferry boat landing in Sausalito CA. The sparkling water effect was done by applying masking fluid before painting the water, then erasing.

I am a self taught artist and have worked in oil, acrylic, India ink, charcoal, and watercolor in a wide range of styles and subject matter including landscapes, seascapes, still life, and portraits. I think that watercolor is the most challenging and interesting. While there is an endless amount of knowledge and documentation about what makes some art truly exceptional, what makes a painting interesting for me is usually surprisingly simple; how the artist captures the illusive and subtle effects of light.
